What do you do for a living?

I am a teacher at Ruston High School. I teach Health, PE, and First Responders and I am also an assistant volleyball coach as well as an assistant basketball coach.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy working out, traveling, hunting, and doing almost any activity outdoors.

What’s your favorite movement or WOD in CrossFit and why?

My favorite move in CrossFit is the power clean!!! I love it because it is challenging. There are so many small things that you have to do to make it efficient. Although I’m nowhere near being efficient I like to accept the challenge and keep working towards it.

What’s your athletic background?

I played basketball, softball, and ran track in high school. I went to college to play basketball but quit after suffering multiple knee injuries. Now I play co-ed softball and run 5ks.

What motivates you to come to the gym everyday?

Knowing that each day will be challenging motivates me to come everyday. It makes me feel that everyday that I overcome the challenge, I get a little bit better not only as an athlete, but as a person as well. I also love the environment and the people that come along with it.

What have your learned about yourself by doing CrossFit?

I have learned that even though the workouts are hard and I sometimes don’t want to do them that I have to overcome. It’s a life lesson I try to apply—when things get hard, push through and finish it out. Also, I’ve learned to like the things I’m not good at and to work on them more than the things I do enjoy.

What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in your lifestyle since doing CrossFit?

The biggest change that I’ve seen in my lifestyle since doing CrossFit is the intensity in which I do my workouts and also the standard I hold myself to do each workout. I push myself to do better each workout even when it’s hard and I want to quit.
